QualitiesIf applying for a job like this, you will need good persuasion and speaking skills. "Conducting a detailed scientific investigation is worthless if the findings cannot be communicated clearly to the court," says Jennifer McDaid, a forensic scientist. "This can be quite challenging, as the members of the jury may have little or no scientific training (Brightside, 2003)." We recommend taking public speaking classes and enrolling at clubs such as drama or debate. Good note-taking and observation skills are also needed, for a crucial detail missed in a crime scene may lead to false conviction. In order to achieve this, it is recommended to take laboratory courses (AAFS, 1948).
